08 March 2009 CHARITY HIGH TEA FOR TI-RATANA WELFARE SOCIETY
On 8th of March 2009, Palace of the Golden Horses together with the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur Di Raja hosted an extraordinary afternoon high-tea for the under-privileged children of Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Selangor.
This first joint effort with the Rotary Club was part of many future social activities and programs to establish the importance of corporate social responsibility within the community where we live in.
Ti-Ritana is a community centre created for the betterment of lives. A centre of hope, sharing the growth that caters to the needs of children, young people and senior citizens, regardless of race or creed. The center was found by Chief Rev K Dhammaratana – the Chief High Priest of Malaysia in 1994 and has since voluntarily served his life in community and charity work.
Forty children aged 6 – 12 years accompanied by five guardians of Ti-Ritana Welfare Homes as well as other invited guests from the Rotary Club were treated to a special high-tea at the East Garden Lawn of Palace of the Golden Horses - overlooking the hotel’s lush green gardens and MINES North Lake.
The afternoon saw an expansive local and Western buffet spread such as Palace Free Mee Hoon, Crispy Calamari Rings with Tartar Sauce, Marmite Chicken Boxing, choice of delectable desserts and ice-creams prepared by the hotel’s award winning culinary team .Just before tucking into the high-tea, Palace of the Golden Horses’s Chief Executive Officer Stuart Pack extended his warm welcome to the children and followed by a speech from Francis Chan – the President of the Rotary Club Kuala Lumpur Di Raja.
Public Relations and Event Manager of Ti-Ratana Homes - Christine Alphonse also delivered her keynote speech and introduced the children as they mesmerised the audience with their talents by performing Lun Bing Hua and Indian dances.
To add more fun to the afternoon, the children were also given a great opportunity to experience the new and thrilling Wa Wa Splash - an amphibian vehicle that could travel on land as well as water. The Wa Wa Splash tour took them on water cruise ride around the 150-acre MINES Lake and an exclusive sight seeing tour at the MINES Residence and MINES Resort City. The exciting tour ended the fun-filled day for the children of Ti-Ratana .
“All of us should make it a point to bring joy and happiness to their hearts, even in the smallest way and I think this will be one of the most memorable outings for the children” said Stuart Pack
