The World Chinese Global Economic Forum
The proposed World Chinese Economic Forum is intended to be a leading international conference focusing on the emergence of Global Chinese economic
power – not only from China but also from the Chinese Diaspora worldwide. The emergence of China and its robust economic growth has attracted worldwide
attention. Global business is beating a path to China’s doors. China’s sovereign wealth funds have become key players in the global marketplace and this will
continue to rise. The Chinese Diaspora in Southeast Asia – in particular Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia are emerging to be significant players in their
respective countries but also regionally. Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwanese companies are becoming major players globally as well.
The rise of China has fuelled an increase in intra-Asia trade and investments. China’s insatiable appetite for resources has fuelled a mineral’s boom in Australia.
ASEAN’s exports with China has grown by double digits on a year to year basis. The World Chinese Economic Forum will address this growing phenomenon –
The Rise of the Chinese Dragon and its Impact on the Global Economy. The forum will promote East-West interaction, by bringing together strategic thinkers,
thoughtleaders, entrepreneurs, policy-makers and key decision makers to debate and exchange ideas on this 21st Century phenomenon – which may well be China’s Century.
Nevertheless the Global Economic Crisis has put a damper on China’s robust economic growth and has created new economic challenges for China resulting
from slower growth, rise in unemployment and maintaining social harmony. Yet over the longer horizon, China will be a key regional engine and a major driver of
global growth. The forum will attempt to make sense of this new strategic imperative – to learn from and better understand the key forces driving China’s economic growth and the nexus with the Chinese Diaspora worldwide. The forum will be a pace-setter. The forum will facilitate business interaction and senior-level interchanges. It provokes strategic thinking and new ideas. It stimulates debate and dialogues. It clarifies and amplifies trends and issues. It will build up and enhance business networking and linkages. The forum will be focused. Each year there will be an underlying theme for the forum which is envisaged to be an Annual Series to be held in the world-class Mines Resort City in Malaysia – a conducive environment for contemplation, discussion and business interaction. It will have the theme “Property & Finance: Risks and Opportunities after the Global Economic Crisis”. This theme is pertinent with the collapse of leading financial institutions and their rescue by National Governments as well as the decline in property and asset values. China and Chinese entrepreneurs in the Global Chinese Diaspora have been major players in the Property Industry. The forum will include Golf at the world famous Mines Golf and Country Club, Dialogues and Roundtable Sessions as well as Business Networking, Keynote Addresses and Conversations with Leaders from Government and Business will stimulate discussions at the forum. One-on-One Matchmaking with potential partners can be arranged.
